By following the Canadian Long Term Athlete Development model the Kootenay Snowboard Academy will allow the athletes to develop their skills to their highest potential. With the support of The Canadian Snowboard Federation and the British Columbia Snowboard Association, our programs will guide athletes through the steps of competition at the local, Provincial and National levels. All athletes are encouraged to follow a dynamic training schedule based upon individual areas of interest. Our goal is to provide the highest level of coaching to all athletes while promoting a safe, positive and fun environment in which athletes may develop their abilities and progress towards their own personal goals.

The academy operates within the public school system in one of BC's top achieving schools and school districts. Operating under principles of choice and flexibility, academy teachers work closely with coaches to ensure time for training and learning is optimized. The latest technology in online education helps athletes continue their studies even when competing away.
