Frequently Asked Questions

How good of a snowboarder do I have to be?

You must already know how to snowboard. The NSST programs are open to those riders who are at the intermediate to advanced level. Whether you’re just entering the park for the first time or you are an experienced freestyle rider, NSST will have an appropriate group for your level of riding.

Is NSST only a racing program?

NO. Freestyle programs are the most popular programs we offer and we have some of the best freestyle coaches and riders coaching for us. If you are interested in snowboard cross or GS racing we also have highly qualified race coaches.

What does the cost of the program cover?

We provide professional coaching in a positive setting as well each rider will also get a NSST team t-shirt.

What are your coaches’ qualifications?

Our coaches are some of the highest certified in the country. They have all completed courses with the Canadian Snowboard Coaching Program (CSCP) and the National Coaching Certificate Program (NCCP). Our coaches coach at the Provincial level in Canada as well as training athletes from other countries.

Do you have to compete to join?

You are not required to compete to join our programs. You let our coaches know what you want to achieve and we get you there, fast. If you want to compete we can help you set up competition runs for you chosen events. If you just want to learn new tricks and push your riding to higher levels we also have the group for you.

Do you have girls only groups?

Last season NSST was asked by Grouse Mountain to run their Girls only coaching programs. For the upcoming 06-07 season we will be continuing to develop this program to encourage female riders to challenge their skills in a positive supportive setting.check out the programs section to find out more.

What are the general age groups?

Our youth groups are from the ages 11 to 18. if the kids are younger and have the skills we are more then happy to include them in the program. Age ranges for the adult programs are mid to late 20’s but riders of all ages are encouraged to take part. We will try to divide all groups according to age, ability and interest.
